GROUNDHOG DAY SPECIAL!

The groundhog dreams of snow again
six weeks of winter held within
the fragile grasp of tiny paws
that twitch, divining winter's thaw
from nestled warmth of darkened den.

Each nervous toss and turn portends
to winds that chill the world of men
and as the morning nearer draws
the groundhog dreams.

will he behold his shadow twin
and dive away or act akin
when faced with crowds of loud applause
or boos and jeers from angry jaws
or are the seasons' bounds' found when
the groundhog dreams.
